Marquez: "Valencia could be the title decider"

Championship leader reflects on the chances of MotoGP™ crown number four ahead of flyaway tour

With a 16-point lead over Andrea Dovizioso and only four rounds to go, Marc Marquez' charge for a fourth title in the premier class could bear fruit if he is to maintain his current form – which has witnessed the Spaniard take top step in four of the last six races.

Speaking at the Allianz Night Run in Cheste alongside brother and Moto2™ rider Alex Marquez, the Repsol Honda rider explained that "I'm looking forward to the flyaway races and will see if we can maintain our pace and the advantage we've built up".

However, victory is not certain given the challenging and highly competitive year that has presented itself in 2017. Marquez went on to add that "There are a lot of strong riders, it's all very close, and there were some crashes because we're pushing the limits, the important thing is to not crash in the race."

"It would be great to arrive in Valencia with the title, but I believe the final round in Cheste could be the title decider. There might be some races in the wet during the flyaways, and we'll have to take risks - but avoiding failures and scoring points becomes more and more critical."

"The key is to treat all rivals equally - not only the other two title contenders but also riders like Lorenzo, who can appear at the front like he did in Alcañiz and beat you in a race."
